Memories of Yesterday General Session & Awards Presentation
Keynote Speaker Willard Scott
Mediterranean 4 & 5
An American icon that has graced our living rooms for more than 20 years, Willard Scott shares his life-loving energy with millions of Today viewers – and brings national attention to philanthropic causes of critical importance. For decades Willard Scott has brightened our mornings with humor-filled weather reports from far-flung locales. Putting the spotlight on communities and on the nation’s elder citizens, he revived a forgotten America. In weekly appearances on NBC’s Today, he continues to feature small-town fundraisers and prominent senior citizens, stirring the nation’s conscience and pride.
From his early persona as the first Ronald McDonald to his current gig as the official Santa Claus at White House events, Scott has always made laughter his goal. In live presentations, he offers audiences all the humor and wit that have carried him around the world and has made him a media phenomenon.
The most jovial of Renaissance men, Scott is the author of several books, including: The Joy of Living, Down Home Stories, Willard Scott’s All-American Cookbook, America Is My Neighborhood, The Older the Fiddle, the Better the Tune and most recently If I Knew It Was Going To Be This Much Fun, I Would Have Become A Grandparent First. He is co-author with Bill Crider of two mystery novels, Murder Under Blue Skies and Murder in the Mist.
Mr. Scott is turning 75 this year and will take us through the years with his delightful, entertaining down-home stories and experiences. His book, The Older the Fiddle, the Better the Tune, will be sold at the registration desk, and he will be signing books in the Exhibit Hall at Center Stage from Noon – 1 p.m., after the morning Educational Sessions.
